Today is Not a Day for Thinking

When Thermalix and Mechalis submit their “Petition to Address the Dire Lack of Rocket Camels” to Blizzard, they also plan on sneaking in a document or two supporting the addition of some new emotes.  Here’s what they’ve come up with so far, demonstrated (sorta) by Thermalix and Caliverne:

/yarr

/arrr or /yarr

We got the hat.  We got the pants and the shirt.  We got parrots galore!  It’s about darn time we had a pirate emote.  There could also be /ninja.  You could use either one when you are about to steal need loot for transmog purposes.  Yeah, I need those shoulders.  THEY MATCH.

/omg

/omg or /wtf

Especially handy for those who use the Dungeon Finder or LFR regularly.  We’ve all been in those groups where that “Thing You Don’t Do” becomes the “Thing That Idiot Just Did.”  There is clearly a need for an emote to express the frustration and shock one feels at the moment when you realize you have a mage tank!

/derp

/derp

For use when you are the one who has done the “Thing That Idiot Just Did.”  (See: Thermalix, Smart Move #3201: Run up to Helix Gearbreaker in Deadmines Heroic to start a conversation about his fears.)

/rockout

/rockout

While many are fond of the air guitar, Mechalis also suggests we add the air drumset and the air accordion just to keep things varied.  Remember to always play an /encore after your audience /claps!  Show them you appreciate them.  They are armed.

/ragequit

/ragequit

Who hasn’t seen someone do this?  There needs to be an appropriate tantrum animation before you pull the mobs and dump the party.  Then, since everyone else has been appropriately warned, they have time for a quick /omg or /wtf before they die!

p.s., please add /meow too, kthxbye

You aren’t the only one who needs them. There are lots of times related to the derping and wtf-ing when I think something like /mindboggle would be highly useful.

One of the things I love so much about goblins is that they don’t take themselves as Darn Seriously as some of the other races do. As a result, they are often just a riot because they say and do exactly what they darn well please!

      Ezdenia is so cute!

Lots. Lots. Also lots of time spent in the Dungeon Finder recently, thanks to a whim where I decided, “let’s level the alts!”

I think /ragequit really can apply to every party ever where you have to deal with some stranger who is less than competent. Yesterday, some folks in my guild and I ran through several Cataclysm heroics for the heck of it. I was on Thermalix, and my guildmates were a shaman healer and another hunter.

We had a blood elf death knight who, completely at random, was tossed in our group twice. This wouldn’t be of note except for the fact that despite wearing plate, he was even more life-challenged than I am in mail. Sometimes he would just mysteriously fall over dead within thirty seconds of starting a boss fight. HOW? Add to that our extremely squishy tank (at least he knew he was squishy? He wasn’t wearing tanking gear), and the healer was having a total heart attack.

What made this even more mind-boggling was the fact that this death knight was obsessed with showing the damage recount and talking about DPS … even though he was always rock bottom because he spent the most time deader than a doornail! They sucked SO BAD, Thermalix actually did the 2nd most damage (after the guildmate hunter). This never, ever happens. She’s usually the one at the bottom end of the DPS.

It would’ve been good for my ego, except … I knew what I was comparing myself to!

Was he bottom of damage *and* DPS, or was he going for a blaze of glory, burning CDs, pulling aggro and then getting stomped into the ground?

A guildie once demonstrated to me how most folks rely on DPS view rather than Damage done, by burning all of his CDs and attacking Morchok for about 10 seconds, then running in circles for the rest of the fight. He showed as top DPS and no-one questioned it…

I honestly have no idea which view he was using, as I was too flabbergasted to pay attention. I DO know that he died before a “blaze of glory” could occur.

how about /blame and /slacker (ok ok I tend to say slackass but I don’t think blizzard would go there) oh and my favorite /GTFO it could just make your character yell ‘GET OUT OF THE FIRE GET OUT OF THE FIRE GET OUT OF THE FIRE”! 🙂

I need /gtfo badly. I might need a second, even, like /gtfo2. This would say something such as, “FOR CRIPE’S SAKES, YOU’RE STILL STANDING IN IT!”

True story: I yelled at a Tauren paladin to “Moove!” out of an AOE spell. It was a timely typo.
